To take advantage of premium rate returns it's critical to know the accurate weight of your stock. Depending on the buyer and the season, the difference could be as much as 15c/kilo (cwt).That's substantial, over a line of premium grade stock.

Consider an average line of ten cattle within the premium price band at an average weight of 320 kilos cwt.

That's a difference of $48 per head if they miss the premium weight range.

Plus:

• Get stock away earlier at the higher schedule price
• Be sure the stock selected for slaughter are the best you have available
• Focus available feed on the remaining animals.
