Peter NationRaised on a sheep and beef farm in the Turakina Valley, Rangitikei, Peter Nation has always had a strong affinity with the rural sector. As National Sales Manager he oversees a team of 15 people working for Gallagher Animal Management Systems (electric fencing and associated equipment) and Animal Performance Systems (EID and weighing technology). “My job is basically about making sure people are looked after. As well as our own team, I’m also looking out for our distributors and a wide range of other people and organisations that the company has links with.” Peter joined Gallagher three years ago after a lengthy career in the rural banking industry. He says he enjoys working for a company that is a world leader in cutting-edge agricultural technology. Travel is a big part of the job, but back home Peter and wife Ali, an accountant, live on a lifestyle block outside Hamilton. Farming, gardening and ferrying their two young children to and from social and sporting events keeps them busy most weekends, but Peter still finds time for community commitments that include being the immediate past chairman of the Farm Environment Awards Trust and a board member for the National Fieldays Society. |
