Martin KinneyMartin Kinney is the Territory Manager for North Waikato/Hauraki Plains. His patch, which includes the Coromandel Peninsula, is geographically very different to Central Otago where he was raised on a high country station. When he was in his early 20s Martin embarked on a 12-year shearing career that took him throughout much of New Zealand and Australia. He joined Gallagher in June 2009, having moved from Bay of Plenty where he was a territory manager with Hurricane Wire Products. Prior to that he was with Farmlands where he specialised in the sale of fencing products. Both these roles brought him into close contact with Gallagher. “I developed a real respect for the culture of the company because it’s a family business that genuinely seems to care about its people.” When the opportunity to join Gallagher Animal Management arose, Martin jumped at the chance, even though it meant moving from sunny Tauranga. He enjoys the face-to-face contact with customers and the challenge of using his extensive knowledge of farming and fencing products to help farmers find solutions to animal management problems. Martin, who has two teenage children, is based in Hamilton. In his spare time he enjoys a bit of D.I.Y building and is a keen follower of rugby and cricket. “I try to keep fit by running and going to the gym, but it doesn’t always pan out that way.”
