Ian Moorcock is Territory Manager for the Hawke’s Bay and East Coast region – a big patch of ground that stretches from Hicks Bay down to Dannevirke.
Raised on a Hawke’s Bay sheep and beef farm, Ian has been with Gallagher Animal Management since March 1999. He was previously a regional manager for Allflex, and prior to that he spent seven years as a merchandise manager for a stock and station agency.
Covering such a big region means Ian clocks up about 90,000km of road travel a year. About 80% of his time is spent on-farm helping farmers to develop new or improve existing fence systems. Offering advice on livestock weighing and EID technology is a growing part of the job and his experience in this field makes him a valuable source of information.
Back at home Ian and wife Denise live in a “hideaway” at Elsthorpe. They have five children – two who are still at home - and seven grandchildren. Ian was a volunteer fireman for 14 years and has also been involved in Search and Rescue.
When he is not working or looking after the grandkids, he enjoys hunting, fishing, “and watching my two boys play rugby”.
