Graeme Sutherland’s face will be familiar to many farmers in the King Country and Taranaki regions. He has been working in that area for almost 28 years – and since 1999 as Territory Manager for Gallagher Animal Management.
Graeme’s patch spans from Wanganui to Te Kuiti, taking in the dairy stronghold of Taranaki and the mainly sheep and beef farming King Country province.
Prior to joining Gallagher, he worked in agrichemical and animal health sales and his long term association with the region means many of his clients have become good friends.
A typical day on the job will see Graeme calling in on merchant retail stores or advising farmers on how to set up a new fencing system. Problem solving is also a big part of the job and common issues he encounters include earthing faults and problems with powering electric fence systems in remote blocks.
Graeme’s technical knowledge and access to high quality fencing products means most of these problems are easily overcome.
He and wife Lynne have three adult children and live on a lifestyle block near New Plymouth, where they grow avocados and farm beef cattle.
